If you still like what you see, you can go ahead and make your booking.
Now, without further ado, here’s my personal selection of the best Maui honeymoon hotels.
Psst… At the end of this article, you’ll find a map showing the location of all listings.
1. Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

The best honeymoon hotel in Maui in terms of service is the Four Seasons Maui. While it does cater to families as well, the atmosphere is serene and luxurious.
Forget about resort fee inclusions, a stay at the Four Seasons comes with most bells and whistles included. Just head to the main pool or the gorgeous adults-only Serenity Pool and let the friendly staff member settle you in.
This Maui couples resort opens up to Wailea Beach. Beach staff is of course available to arrange your beach setup so that you can focus on blissful relaxation.
If you’re looking for a carefree resort where the staff anticipates your every need, then the Four Seasons Wailea resort certainly tops the list of most romantic places to stay in Maui.
2. Hotel Wailea, Relais & Châteaux

This is the only adults-only hotel on the island, making it the best hotel in Maui for couples seeking tranquility and romance.
Contrary to most Maui hotels, where the resort fee doesn’t offer much value, the Hotel Wailea resort fee comes with a wonderful list of inclusions. There’s a lei greeting with a champagne toast, generously-sized cabanas by the pool, luxury transfers within the Wailea area, beach valet service, yoga and tropical mixology classes, and complimentary parking.
This intimate hotel is located on the slopes of the Haleakala volcano and looks out over Wailea’s coastline. As a result, it doesn’t offer direct beach access but you can arrange for a complimentary beach transfer in a luxury vehicle at any time.
One of the highlights of this romantic Maui honeymoon hotel is The Treehouse at Wailea, a private dining venue within the canopy of mango and avocados that serves a romantic 7-course dinner.
3. Hana Maui Resort

If you’re looking for a romantic Maui honeymoon hotel in a more unique setting, then the Hana Maui Resort is right up your alley. As the name suggests, it’s located in Hana, the rural town at the end of the legendary Road to Hana.
This secluded retreat is the perfect travel base to discover the beauty of East Maui with its tropical forests, mesmerizing waterfalls, and fragrant flowers.
A gorgeous palm-fringed swimming pool is set amidst the hotel’s lush tropical gardens and overlooks the ocean.
The Hana Maui Resort operates a beach shuttle that will take you to a scenic nearby beach. Just don’t expect to snorkel here. The ocean on the windward coast is pretty rough and swimming is not recommended.
Note that this lush side of Maui is the result of frequent showers. Hana is known for its unpredictable weather so, when booking this resort, you shouldn’t mind a frequent drizzle or the occasional downpour.
4. Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort

Next on our list of best honeymoon resorts in Maui is the Andaz Maui. This upscale Maui hotel is trendy and modern, very different in style than the other resorts in the area.
The sprawling grounds feature a series of generously-sized terraced infinity pools. The higher up you go the better the ocean views. There’s also a lagoon pool and an adults-only pool.
It’s located on the northern end of the Wailea resort area, right at the starting point of the Wailea Beach Walk. Unlike most other Wailea beach hotels, which have their beach set up at Wailea Beach, Andaz has it at Mokapu Beach. This is a much more serene beach that’s excellent for romantic beach walks.
The Andaz Maui is not an adults-only resort but it’s very much adults-oriented, making it one of the best places to stay in Maui for couples
5. Montage Kapalua Bay

Another Maui retreat that offers above-and-beyond service, is the Montage Kapalua Bay. It’s one of the most romantic Maui resorts on this list thanks to its small scale and intimate setting. Three fabulous pools dot the sprawling grounds, two of which are only suited for adults.
This Maui honeymoon resort is located up on the hill and it takes a bit of a walk to get to the beach. Then again, Kapalua Bay is such a picturesque beach that it’s worth the effort. And if you can’t get enough of the scenery, I’d strongly recommend exploring the Kapalua Coastal Trail.
The only thing that could potentially be a bit of a dealbreaker, especially in winter, is the weather. Kapalua is under the influence of the West Maui mountains, resulting in a cloudier and rainier climate than Wailea.
Also, note that Kapalua is located quite a bit further away from Maui’s lively town centers. Other than several championship golf courses and the scenic Honolua Bay, there’s really not that much to do in the area.
The Montage Kapalua Bay is perfect if you’re looking for an upscale honeymoon experience with excellent service in a tranquil setting. It’s one of the most romantic hotels in Maui.
More Maui honeymoon hotels to consider
So far, I’ve mentioned 5 fabulous Maui honeymoon resorts. But that’s just a list of top picks. It’s far from conclusive. There are more Maui hotels that have a lot to offer to couples. The reason why they didn’t make the list is that these hotels are generally considered family resorts. They have the potential to make for excellent Maui honeymoon resorts but only during the couples season and not during school holidays.
Here’s an overview of other such Maui honeymoon hotels that deserve an honorable mention:
This concludes my list of suggestions for the most romantic honeymoon hotels in Maui. Many travel blogs don’t stop here and also promote some of the most popular Maui family resorts, the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows, the Outrigger Kaanapali Beach Resort, and the Sheraton Maui Resort to name a few, for a Maui honeymoon. But, as far as I’m concerned, those aren’t up to the honeymoon standard.
I’ve even seen bloggers hint at the Grand Wailea Maui, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, as one of the best Maui honeymoon hotels. That’s beyond me. The Grand Wailea is one of the best resorts in Maui, it’s even my number one family resort in Maui, but it’s not honeymoon material, au contraire.
In case the Maui honeymoon resorts that I suggested earlier cost more than what you’re willing to spend, then I’d strongly suggest looking beyond the hotel offer. This brings us to the next point.
Other romantic places to stay in Maui for couples
There are plenty of enchanting guesthouses and rentals that make for affordable yet unique places to stay in Maui for couples. If romance is on the menu, then a luxury vacation rental in an intimate setting trumps a standard room in a crowded mid-range hotel anytime.
Here’s a selection of guesthouses and vacation rentals that can compete with some of the top honeymoon hotels in Maui:
1. North Shore Lookout Maui

One of the most romantic Maui hotels is this intimate bed and breakfast in the verdant setting of Upcountry Maui. It overlooks the West Maui mountains as well as the North Shore coast and offers easy access to the Road to Hana and the Kula mountains.
The focal point of this beautiful hideaway is the lava pool with a jacuzzi set amidst a lush tropical garden. What’s amazing is that the property is actually a working farm, growing a variety of local fruits and vegetables. This is reflected in the delicious Hawaiian-style breakfast that’s served every morning.
Out of all 5 accommodations, Hoku is the most romantic suite. In addition to the bedroom, spa-like bathroom, seating area, and kitchenette, this Hawaiian plantation-style suite comes with a spacious lanai. It even includes a private yard equipped with patio dining furniture, a double hammock, and the coziest fire pit seating area. You’ll find all sorts of star-gazing tools in the suite for the most memorable stargazing experience.
It’s easy to see why this serene sanctuary gives some of the best Maui resorts for couples a run for their money.
2. Garden Oasis Luxury Cottage Kihei

One of the most romantic places to stay in Maui can be found in South Kihei. This enchanting cottage offers everything you need to spend time with your loved one.
It’s located just a few miles north of some of the top hotels in Maui for couples yet feels worlds apart in terms of privacy. This single-story private house has its own driveway and its cute garden comes fully fenced.
This wonderful outdoor space is equipped with a luxurious saltwater hot tub, a shower, and a Weber grill. Plenty of shade is provided.
Inside, you’ll find a neutral-toned bedroom with premium cotton sheets, a well-equipped bathroom with an extra-large shower, and a full kitchen with high-quality appliances.
The restaurants, cafés, beaches, parks, and shops of Kihei are located within walking distance of this gorgeous Maui cottage. Beach and snorkel gear are provided.
3. Noah’s Hideaway Luxury B&B

This small-scale luxury bed and breakfast is one of Maui’s best-kept secrets. It only accommodates 2 couples at a time in one of its two suites. Each is equipped with a Nespresso machine, an ice machine, a mini-fridge, and a Sonos sound system. An outdoor kitchen is available on the patio.
Guests have access to the beautiful pool, hot tub, and sauna. A sumptuous breakfast with hot and cold options is served poolside every morning. Beach gear is available free of charge.
